Wielding the Sword Once More: Spurgeon's Last Sermon

On Today in Church His-Story (Episode 23) we talk about the Prince of Preachers last sermon. We discover that Charles Spurgeon’s parting pulpit words were consistent with 40 years of faithfully preaching Christ. Pointing to Christ as the Captain of our salvation, Spurgeon compares our Lord to God’s great warrior of the Old Testament–King David. As David brought back the spoils of war after defeating the Amalekites and shared them with his soldiers, so too does Jesus our Captain share with all of His soldiers the rich bounty of gospel grace. Listen to see how soldier Spurgeon wields the Sword of the Lord one final time before being laid to rest.
